Mosquitoes are everywhere. Dairy cows make the air stink. Idahoans are united in their distaste for Californians. Wages are horrible. High rates of meth use and production. Housing prices are going up very rapidly. This is certainly not the place you want to live.

Boise is safe and wonderful!
I have lived in Boise for my entire life, and I have never once felt unsafe. There are some gang problems in Nampa and Caldwell, but I have never witnessed any gang activity in Boise.
I know many families who have moved from California to Boise and love it. If you are considering moving to Idaho, do not let some post claiming Boise is "unsafe" deter you. It is a wonderful place to live, with many of the advantages of a large city without the crime and impersonal feel.
Just thought I should give you some perspective from someone who actually lives in Boise.

Left California, could not be happier!
My wife and I left California just last month to move to Tn. Franklin, TN to be exact. I landed a higher paying job, and was able to get a huge apartment for the same price we paid for a crappy 2 bedroom. Do I miss it? LOL! Yea, I miss the traffic, the smog, the "never be a home owner thing" , and the highest prices on just about everything. I could go and buy a home right now, and that feeling is truly the best in the world.

You moved into a far flung suburb of Nashville out in the middle of farmlands. I could do the same thing and buy a big house... but would I be happy? Nope. I'd be bored to tears! Hope you enjoy cow tipping.

Dont move to Idaho!!
I lived in CA for 27 years, my whole life, and in September '07 I regrettably moved to Eastern Idaho. I have never seen so many grumpy, unhappy, unfriendly, rude people in my life. It pisses me off that one religion can dominate a whole state. What happened to diversity and tolerance of all religions? Thats why I miss Ca so much. California tolerates the different cultures and religions and welcomes them into their state. They don't discriminate to those who come from a certain state, like snobbey Idahoans do. We have only lived in Idaho for 4 months and already plan to move back to California in March (which means we would have only lived in Idaho for a total of 6 months). Thats pretty bad!! I'm sick of Idaho natives blaming Californians for their problems. As far as I see it, Idaho has major issues on their own without the help of Californians. So those of you who are considering moving to Idaho, think twice because it is a miserable place to live unless you are not from California and are Mormon. When that day comes for us to pack up our stuff and move back to California I will drive on with the biggest smile on my face and NEVER look back! As far as i'm concerned, Idaho is off the map! I wouldn't even come back for vacation.

That's too bad about the religion thing. It would bug me too.
Is that the only problem you are having there? If not, what else is bugging you, and, could you have found out about these things prior to moving to Idaho?

[quote=izzy;183698]It was 31 at 7am this morning in Valley Springs, CA. I think I'll go light a fire. We are suppose to get down to 30 tonight. Our high today is going to be right around 50 degrees. The sun is shining and it is beautiful out.
30? 30 degrees? That HOT!!! Saturday night we hit negative 3 and with the wind chill it was negative 22. 30 degrees people here would be out washing the salt and muck off their cars and walking around with tank tops on, for real.

Sounds like Indiana, alot.
Wonder if people who are so eager to leave CA ever take into consideration all the hassles and inconvenience (not to mention mental anguish) that snow and winter bring?
