CA residents moving to Idaho
I was born and raised in CA. Lived her most of my 52 years. Climate is great. The green scenery is great. I love CA. But....it is getting increasingly hard to afford to live here.
I have recently been checking out Boise, ID. If you go to Idaho on this website you will be surprised by how many CA are going to ID. It has been considered a bad thing by ID residents. They blame CA residents for driving the price of homes up and the increased traffic and anything else that comes to mind.
There are nice folks too though...that understand we can't be blamed for everything. But I sure like the prices of homes in Idaho I think we will retire there in the near future. So...If you're thinking of leaving CA...but still want to be around a lot of CA residents....check out Idaho.

It seems to me that there are a lot of people from Ca moving to lots of different states, not just ID. Look at Texas and many others. Then there are those that are moving to Ca from other states. Not everyone can move to ID, most would not enjoy the weather.

No getting away from us Californians!
The Californians looking to move out of here are also visiting the forums on this website for Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada and even farther east like Kentucky and Indiana. I can't say I blame them for wanting to leave (especially since the cost of housing is out of the reach of most), but hopefully they'll receive enough information from these boards to make informed decisions on where to move. Not to mention all the adjustments they'll have to make (like experiencing snow in the winter and having to drive to work every day in it).

Its not just CA, people from Florida, NYC and NJ are relocating as well. The cheap states are getting most of the transplants. Even with an increase in prices, those states are still far cheaper

We are looking at idaho because it is only a 10 hour drive from CA. Close enough to visit relatives and friends or have them visit us. I consider this an important issue when moving out of state. To far from our native state would mean not seeing the grandkids except twice a year. A ten hour drive for us or them is do able. Once the grandkids can fly on their own, it will be even better.
Not everyone thinks about this because of flying. But large families like us...cost to much to fly. Young grandkids can't fly alone. So distance from family is a serious consideration. Texas is out

It was 31 at 7am this morning in Valley Springs, CA. I think I'll go light a fire. We are suppose to get down to 30 tonight. Our high today is going to be right around 50 degrees. The sun is shining and it is beautiful out.

RE: Boise Idaho
Hello,
I can understand wanted to move to the Boise area of Idaho. We almost did. In fact we had our house on the market and my husband tranferred up there with his job and lived there for 4 months. This is what he fouind once he was actually living there. There is a huge gang problem in that area. Complete with drive by shootings, drug dealing etc. It seems to be pretty much a secret! We decided to stay in No. California and not go. Most outsiders have no clue. I would recommend going online to read not only the Idaho Statesman but news papers from , Meridian, Caldwell, etc.
