I think I read due to de-valuation of the pound it has also surpassed the UK to be #5

And that, during a bad drought! What that tells me is that the boom wasn't related to agriculture. Probably due to tech growth, among other things.

What is more important to California in terms of the economy San fransisco Bay Area or Los Angeles area? I'm sure it would be the la area cause there are so many more people, but Irrelevant to population which would it be?

My guess would be that LA metro regions is larger Gdp, but sf would be higher gdp per capita.
