I recently moved FROM Bakersfield and will never go back. I grew up in So. Cal and lived in Bak for 20 years. It's a horrible place to live...from the brown dirt to the brown plants to the brown sky. Summers are miserable and it just feels "dirty" all of the time. I have heard Fresno is the same. Lots of Gang activity going on there and most everyone is trying to keep up with the Jones! You should spend a solid week in any place to get a feel for the people and town. Good Luck!

Bakersfield and Fresno shouldn't even be on the same list as Sacramento.

Sacramento is in another league, Bakersfield, well. The thought of having to spend just 1 more night there makes me nauseous. Fresno is boring IMO.

Sacto is only livable place in the CV. The other two cities make Sacramento look like NYC and SF.
