So you want to punish the one sector of the economy keep this state afloat? Maybe you found 2008-2012!to be an enjoyable time for business and workers. It sure was fun watching people get evicted because they couldn't make their mortgage payment since they were layed off.

My stocks performed quite well from the bottom of the dip. Besides you're forgetting about the agricultural and aerospace industry.

Which are both small compared to tech and have been either regulated out of this state or resource deprived by regulations.

Your stock portfolio isn't a bellwether for the economy as a whole.

The OP also forgets, or is unaware of, Fidel's many costly boondoggles over the years. Totalitarian regimes and socialist economies, or perhaps I should term them "command economies", are highly prone to boondoggles, and nobody can complain about them. I'm not sure what kind of governance the OP has in mind for Fidel, if he were to come to CA, given his accustomed style of governing....

Something tells me that even if he got his wish, the OP would find plenty to complain about.

Aerospace companies are not doing that well, but I agree it's a stupid thread. Why don't you go live in Cuba to see if you want California to turn into to Cuba first.

Yes, who doesn't look at how marvelous Cuba is and wish "If only my state were so prosperous and wonderful to live in!"

Yeah, because it's worked out so well for Cuba.

The only people I've known/heard of who praised Venezuela are radicals. And Venezuela is just another more-or-less command economy based on a typical 3rd World model that's overly-dependent on resource extraction. That's the other problem with those economies; they don't diversify. Not to mention rampant corruption.

Is this the California forum, or the Economics forum, lol?

Wouldn't affect me!
