You hear about the high cost of living, high taxes, no affordability of a home, but people continuously still move to California. Interested in the demographics of people who are currently in the process of moving to California such as race, marital status, as well as the reason why you are moving?

Most who come to California are immigrants. The main source of immigration for the United States are Mexico, Philippines, China, India, etc. Those are the demographics.

No not really. The state is making it harder and harder for the middle class to survive here in CA, let alone a white person. So alot of people are moving out to other states. I moved here four years ago and I learned over time that this state does not like white people who work and pay taxes. So now I am moving back to the East Coast.

My direct experience is in Orange County, and I can say without hesitation that the demographics have changed in recent years to include many, many more Asians (mainly Chinese) and Middle Easterners. I used to rarely see women with head coverings; now I see quite a few every day.

They consist mostly of bright eyed people from poorer regions such as the Midwest, the south, India, China, and other third world countries who think they're going to make it big and become the next CEO of Apple.

Can you provide any references to support your hypothesis?? (Rush Limbaugh doesn't count)

broad sweeping generalizations??? evidence and details??!!? Guess you can't see what's going on around you. But here's a small nugget of hard data in case you can't figure it out:

"In California counties where both populations grew, the foreign-born population accounted for an average of 43 percent of that increase. Fifty-two of the state’s 58 counties experienced growth in their foreign- and native-born populations. Los Angeles County had a net gain of 815,000 immigrants compared with only 83,000 additional natives. That means the foreign-born population accounted for 91 percent of the county’s growth from 1990 to 2012."

Spend some time with this link:

Changing Patterns in U.S. Immigration and Population: Immigrants Slow Population Decline in Many Counties

Note Map 3 which shows large swaths of So. California where more than 50% of the population growth is as a result of the foreign-born (In LA County it was 91% as shown in the quote). And in the rest of the state, the percentage is also substantial.

Why did you start this thread if you don't want to hear the answers?

Some basic math :

"the foreign-born population accounted for an average of 43 percent of that increase."

43% being less than 50.00000000001%, the claim "Most who come to California are foreign" is incorrect. In fact, since 57% of the immigrants to California are NOT foreign born, most who immigrate to CA are native-born (native to the U.S.). {100-43 = 57, for the mathematically impaired.}

Based on the numbers for L.A. (91% of 815K), it appears that many of the foreign-born immigrants ended up there, making the % of foreign-born immigrants to the toal immigration numbers that much lower in the REST of the state.

So drop this "Most who come to California are foreign" B.S.

Thanks for posting the stats to prove that.
