Tell us about the difference. California's economy is not only large, as noted, but also the most diversified of any state. By far. Therein lies the strength, as well as size.

War vets (I am one) have access to more federal programs for homelessness than the general public. Speaking from direct experience, NO vet, war or peacetime, needs to sleep on the streets for long, if at all. Those that do do so because they have distrust issues or an unwillingness to engage with a federal system that will care for them.

Children, minority or otherwise, citizens or otherwise, suffering on the streets are a national disgrace. Yes.

Sure. Why back up hyperbolic falsehoods with facts and stats? Ruins the forum, eh?

Yes but California is probably the most dysfunctional state. Pollution, high taxes, budget deficit, tolls, drought. California cant afford to subsidize individuals that dont contribute to the tax base

Here's the deal...you don't have to live in California, we have too many people already, almost 40 million, and it is in the best interest of all residents of the state if malcontents live elsewhere, perhaps Oklahoma which faces it's second straight one billion (with a B) dollar budget deficit

Fortunately my wife already uses sturdy cloth bags for shopping.

Ah, you've decided to not address facts and stats as per my request. Dang. Doubling down on the hyperbolic fiction instead.

This "dysfunctional state" outperforms every other.

It's pollution problem is only unique in the valley due to geographic circumstances that trap air - much of the state is quite extraordinarily clean due to some of the nation's most stringent anti-pollution regulations that have performed wonders and become benchmarks internationally.

High taxes? On the wealthy, yes. California has one of the nation's most progressive tax tiering, middle class being taxed at very average rates, and the poor little to not at all taxed.

Budget deficit? You mean surplus of course. Typo? Yes, we now have a budget surplus in the billions.

Tolls? Where are you from? There are tolls in many states. Are they all dysfunctional?

Drought? You don't keep up on the news much, eh?

"cant afford to subsidize individuals that dont contribute to the tax base"? Really? It's done all the time in states all across the nation. And none are so blessedly capable as California to be able to afford the kindness.

The right wing hates the non-tax payers so much they put one in the White House.
