Great town, great people, great place to raise a family. Nice place to kick back, to boot. Beautiful nights and all that the desert has to offer. I live somewhere else because of my job but if I could choose, I would definitely live in Ridgecrest. Be thankful for the opportunity.

Default Please Help My Husband!!!! We need a room

My husband recently started a construction job in Ridgecrest and has been staying at a local hotel. Because his job, for the most part requires him to work out of town he lives in a hotel room Mon.-Fri. and comes on for the weekend. His co-workers / room mates are all pretty young and are in a bit of a different place in there lives than he is so needless to say staying with a bunch of guys gets old. We are looking for a decent room to rent for him untill the end of Jan. He leaves for work around 4:30am and gets home around 6:30pm. He comes home friday after work so he prettymuch needs a room but will only occupy it 4 days out of the week. We are looking for someone that is past the party stage in life (although my husband likes to hang out and drink a beer with someone that may reciprocate an interesting conversation) We are trustworthy, family people. I just really want a comfortable place for my hard working husband to stay while he is away from us. If anyone can help please call me at 661-717-8773
Thanks,
Erin from Bakersfield

I have to say I was able to visit for a week and the people there are "Very Awesome." I used to live in Colorado and had thought I would never see so many stars in the sky as I did in the Rockies. But in the desert of Ridgecrest I was blown away with how much sky I couldn't see due to all the stars.
Thanks for any help
Have you considered self employment? I work for a company that allows me to work from my home. I am not recruiting for it but I also am moving to Ridgecrest area in about 6 weeks and I am only waiting to make sure I am established with income before the move. With the company that I work for, they have hundreds of companies that they represent including disney. If you want more info let me know and I will send you the link. There is some investment required, depending on the client requirements but the income is decent and goes in general 6 month contracts. You would be an independent contractor so you are responsible for your own taxes etc. Holler if I can help in any way. Ridgecrest-Inyokern is a great area. I can't wait. email; avila2go2@yahoo.com, Name : Jean McDermott, ph 6194592219. I currently live in San Diege and love the ocean but have also developed a great love for the desert.

Default Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You get what you expect.

The people are REAL. If you are into pretense and toys, Ridgecrest is not for you.

Hey, I almost forgot. I was a trainer for AT&T for about 8 yrs. If you can do that you can do the self employment thing. Lots of luck, whatever you choose. shadesgrandma

Ridgecrest isn't really that bad. Compared to the rest of the state of California, and even the country for that matter, we're doing pretty well .

- Economy is in good shape here and pretty much isolated from the recession due to the town's heavy government employment

- Housing is dirt cheap (im paying $525/mo rent for a 2bd/2story/2bath apartment with my GF)

- Low unemployment and the base is hiring a lot of engineers and scientists right now

- Not too far from Lancaster/Palmdale to get your good restaurant fix

All things considered its not too bad here.
