... as if the whole point of a cart isn't to pull loads? ... as if it makes sense to have millions pull empty carts? The arrogance is palpable.

Well said! (And John and Ken are two of many who are attempting to do the empowering....or so they believe.)

Check back with me November 9th on that
... and monthly after that, eh?

Other than very brief hiccups, always cured in a hurry, the history of the world has never gone backwards, Exitus.

I can do more than that for you.

However, if some of the able people IN the cart got out and HELPED, wouldn't that make it easier for everyone ?

The people pulling the cart don't need help. That's why they're pulling.

As for "able people" taking a free ride: very few people prefer free rides defined by poverty where work that can return greater personal advantage is available.

No, I'm not a socialist, a democrat, a bleeding heart, a religious devotee. Your comments are just ignorantly stupid.

Notice the lack of equity or fairness. It is just if you have enough you must always give more. You will give and give and give until you either get fed up and leave, no longer have anything or you start bribing politicians to let you keep your own money.

Why do you think a tax on smoking is a disincentive to smoke but s tax on work isn't a disincentive to work?

What a non-sequiturial screed of nonsense.

A tobacco tax relates in no way to an income tax. (Nor did I say anything about any tobacco tax.)

Equity and fairness? Relative terms in the extreme. So many definitions. So many qualifiers. Hard to imagine how you can use such broad, vague terms to specify your libertarian fantasy complaints. (Nor did I say anything about equity or fairness.)

"Give and give and give?" lmao. The reality that you are in a position to give says it all. Mike's sour condescension vilifies those with the least fortune among us - as if THEY cause the problems we all must endure: war, toxic products, poorly compensated labor, environmental rape, etc. The poor aren't dragging society down nor limiting individual prosperity. Control of those dynamics are entirely in the grasp of the very few at the top of the hill. And that said, those at the top are indispensable to all of us below regardless. Because humanity at large is mostly incapable of rising collectively and cooperatively beyond our individual interests and passions and biases. History has demonstrated this conclusively for 10,000 years.

Live with it. Quit whining. You, and most all of us, are doing so fantastically better than our forefathers it is shameful to listen to these childish protestations.
