As I was saying in another thread, they hate us and our values, they take take take and require that we yield to the tyranny of vampires named Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan, soon to be complimented with Putin's new lap dog, Donald Trump, a dictatorial buffoon who wants to gut state laws that reflect the prevailing moral compass of Californians.

It may be time for a divorce.

And really we're appear to be on the same page...

The nation's opinion:
Which state would be the first voted out? California. Of the voters willing to ditch a state or two, 53 percent pick the Golden State.

Here's the view from California:

You guys, I hate to be a party pooper, but it just occurred to me that if all the reasonable people depart the US one way or another, either by secession or emigration, that would leave the remaining mess in control of the nuclear arsenal, in charge of the ongoing wars, and in charge of the foreign policy of what has come to be known as the Most Powerful Nation on Earth (whether or not that's an accurate description). Not to mention--in control of the economy, interconnected as it is with the rest of the world.

Do we want to leave the reigns of power in the hand of potential nut jobs? Who knows what kind of running amok could come to pass without the more moderating influence of West Coastia and the NE? Would that be the responsible thing to do--to bail?

Kind of a toughie.

Personally I don't understand why California would want to secede and become part of Canada. One of the key reasons supporting California's secession is that our culture is becoming increasingly distinct and different from the Red States. Our culture, however, also just as different from Canada's culture as we from the Red States. We don't have the same laws, the same history, or government structure. If California is going to secede it should be as an independent nation.

But, as a sanctuary state you do have something in common with Canada. You may or may not have been around then but Canada welcomed Americans running from the Draft during Vietnam. This could be like history repeating itself.
