the city will become famous soon enoughthe city will become famous soon enough
if shopping and weather are your choices-he's my input

-paso robles, templeton, atascadero and north county: an open-air mall someday, heat, friendlier ppl, less pricey housing (less old ppl)
-san luis obispo, arroyo grande, pismo beach and south county: downtown shopping, s. cal weather, old ppl and college students(not many families), pricey housing but nicer living

There is no way I would work at the state hospital and live in Grover...WAY too far away and culturally it is night and day different. You really can't compare them - it is like apples and oranges. They are both good in their own ways, but very different. I would never, ever drive the grade daily. I'm thinking of buying a business in SLO and that is 19 miles away, and I'm concerned.
I used to work at the Pentagon, so I definitely know where you are coming from Ms. Marie!! Be prepared for a HUGE change...for the best!
But, don't live in Grover - too far away.

Hmmm...lots of good advice! But what is the grade exactly? A road going over a mountain ridge that is dangerous? Because it's foggy?

Ms. Marie,
The Cuesta Grade is time consuming, gas guzzling, sometimes foggy, hard on your car engine, steep, twisting, and quite frankly...sometimes scary.
For as long as people have lived in this area, the mountains that separate the area between Santa Margarita to the north, and San Luis Obispo to the south have been a navigational problem. Dating back to the days of the Chumash, and Salinas Indians, through the days of the missions, then the spanish rancheros, the early settlers, and today, the grade continues to be a hard pass to climb.
Don't do it everyday..you'd drive yourself mad, and then need the hospital to which you are going to work at.

And at the bottom of the grade--the southern end--is a place called MOTEL INN-the very 1st place that ever called itself a "motel". And the bar there a mean martini back in the day!

I can tell you that I WOULDNT move to Oceano. Unless its changed alot since I left California. Los Osos [Los Osos De Canada-Valley of the Bears] is wonderful!

Ms. Marie,
As you can see, we have opinions on everything. But, the question you have to ask yourself is: Are you going to work at the state hospital and commute over the grade?
All those cities you just asked about, Nipomo, Oceano and Los Osos are over the grade..Oops, I might be wrong about Los Osos. Someone else might have to clear that one up. But Nipomo and Oceano are right here by me. Oceano is right smack dab next to Grover.
Do you want to commute?
