Some would argue that California is socialist.

True, many would.

Which may be why they will let Putin's efforts succeed.

California is de facto one party socialist. We all know where that ends up eventually based on history.

And they'd be written off as the foaming-at-the-mouth nutjobs that they are. People argued that FDR was introducing "socialism", too. This, during the Depression, no less, when an alarming percentage of the populace was living in tents on the streets. That tells you something about the people who like to cry "socialism!"

But what is happening now is far different than the recession FDR had to deal with. Today FDR would be viewed as a Conservative as the Left has gone far more to the left.

Kinda like JFK who wanted to reduce Business taxes and the whole tax levels in existence then. Diametrically opposed to what the Left wants now.

Not only that, JFK was an NRA member as well.

The left has gone so far left, they would be unrecognizable to Democrats in the 1960s.

The same can be said for the conservative right and Republicans.

What does The Left want now? Fill me in, I seem to be out of the loop. BTW, who is "The Left"? Let's start there.

Exactly! I'm amazed and chagrined that more people do not have the capacity to understand this. I'm more often calling the leftist faction socialist, or socialistic/marxist, because these terms are more descriptive of what is occurring.

I think this is a truly historic period of the USA.

I align more with old democratic principles than new ones, however I am neither republican nor democratic by self identification, it truly depends on the topic.

It's vary rarely binary, nor should it be.
