I've always been annoyed by the "commie" references people make. Commifornia, Kommifornia, Kalifornia, etc. Honest question - what is it you find to be communist about California?

One side of politics continually makes communist and socialist references to CA's type of politics. I don't think people get that the approach to governing rural civilization is not compatible when it comes to governing huge numbers of people that live close together (urban/suburban areas). The opposite is also true.

One side focuses on one, the other side focuses on the other. Neither party has it right in this respect. Both are needed, for different reasons. Even though states as a whole may be red or blue, I've personally noticed on political maps that most metro areas tend to be blue, regardless of state. Most rural areas tend to be red, regardless of state. That's exactly what I'm talking about. Some states have a population more diffused out into the rural areas. Other states have most people concentrated in the metros, but as a whole, civilization in urban areas has different needs and goals to civilization in rural areas. Different problems, different solutions. Nobody, seriously anyway, is approaching both with due diligence. When a bunch of people cluster together, there is going to be a collection and redistribution of resources on a level not needed in the rural areas; no way around it. Urban life != rural life.

Most of the people I know who have left California (and there are plenty; I've been here over 45 years) did so reluctantly. It's mostly "Sadly, we were forced to go," not so much "Lucky us, we got out!"

And if those people have come to like and appreciate the good points of their new location, so much the better. Californians also like and appreciate the good points of where they live.
California native. I love CA, but it's too expensive. Being in software development, my career will eventually be at a point where we could afford it. I just can't justify parting with so much money for what for me personally is not a justified cost. There are definitely downsides to where I live (too many lifted-pickup-truck, anger management problem, "Guns! Football! And Jesus!" knuckle-draggers that make people outside their ethnicity uncomfortable), but there are far more things to like that I don't need to list here. Suffice it to say, I love CA and I love where I'm at. But since money is all people can think about at our civilization's current state of development, instead of things more conducive to the betterment of the species, for now I have to go to a place where that money is less of a problem.

I do think CA needs to be a bit more pragmatic and not think that CA is bound by all the zaniest of left wing ideals. It shouldn't identify that way at its core. Sometimes I get the sense that people support all these measures CA enacts because they think it's an attack on liberalism and if any room is given to compromise that it's a win for the right wing.

I love the variety of things do do in So Cal. I bought my house 15 years ago so taxes are low. Save a fortune in heating and AC costs compared to other states, and the food prices are low. If people don't like it, they should look for a place to be happy. I for one love CA and have lived in many other places so can compare.

My family was smart enough to escape, even though the state being a disaster decades ago. (This was during the Gray Davis era).

Well except for those of us who can afford to pay the freight.

The end!

Affording doesn't equal wise investment or sound financial decision.

The end!

I live in LA but lately been back and forth between Houston planning a big move. And yes I am one of those who can afford CA (for now) but am reluctantly moving because I might not be able to afford it in the near future.

haters gonna hate.

CA is awesome. CA also gets the most tourists visitors of any US states COMBINED.
Why do so many people want to visit and live in CA?

Successful people come to CA while failures leave CA and are BITTER for the rest of their lives.

FYI: Being a hateful / bitter old man is bad for your health.

The communists in Sacramento creates laws that micromanages your daily life. They pass 1000s of laws every year and most residents don't realize they're getting their freedoms stripped away.

Even successful people in CA escape communist control do better elsewhere. They can't stand the garbage going on in Sac.
