Default Manhattan Beach or Laguna Beach?

My husband is considering a new position with a company in Newport Beach, CA. We currently live in Central London with our three children (6, 4 and 1). His work hours will basically be 5am-4pm daily. I am searching for private schools with a formal atmosphere and Christian education. I do not currently work but would like to in the future - I have a past in arts administration as a fundraiser. We lived for seven years in Manhattan, NYC. Never been to CA but visting next week. We are considering both Laguna Beach (because of its close proximity to Newport) and Manhattan Beach (because of its more city-like qualities and its proximity to LA. Cost of living is not an issue. Help!

Manhattan is big city beach.
Laguna is a coastal paradise.

Both are gorgeous in their own way and both insanely expensive. You have to visit.

Thanks for the response! I will see which way I am swayed next week. I was hoping for a bit more info on the two, but I guess I'll have to judge for myself... Thanks again, S

If your husband is working in Newport, Laguna is very close for a commute. Manhattan Beach to Newport is a very very long commute.
