Are you asking if the SLO Co or Santa Maria hospitals have what Stanford, UCSF, or UCLA have to offer? Our health care facilities here are good. Everyone I know with a special concern or whatever travels to L.A. or the Bay Area to see specialists. Doesn't the entire state do that? If surgery is a concern, we have a couple of the best in the country. The Hayashi bros.

I absolutely ADORE the Hayashi brothers! Howard is my surgeon (I've had lots of procedures) and he is one of the best, by far. But yes, most specialists are going to be up north or down south, but it's kind of nice being in the middle since you can choose to go either way

caliving0071 is on a distinguished road
Santa Barbara born and raised and have lived in Orcutt 20 yrs. Orcutt is great if you like a more family oriented community. Schools are top rated and California distinguished. No need to go to a private school unless you really want too. They do have private schools available. People mentioned fog as if it were a big issue, funny I wouldnt even mention fog if I were describing the weather here. It does get windy often and it is getting hotter (global warming??) but nothing too extreme and significant. Still great weather compared to most of the nation. Easy access to much ie: theatre, shopping, Santa Barbara, SLO, beach. We are fortunate to have the PCPA Theatre and The Great American Melodrama (not to be missed).

I was rereading this thread as a friend asked me about the area.

As to health services, I am surprised that a couple of brothers are the only options for surgery in the area. It would seem the central coast would be a prime location for doctors to settle in.

Also, why all the references to Tri-tip? Is that a specialty of the place?

One good thing as the houses are very reasonable in the Orcutt area and better in SM. Now is the time to invest in properties.

The comment about graffitti made me laugh as "it is a cultural thing"?
Old grand daddy Mathias would have had his shotgun full of rock salt ready for the wall defacers! Oh well, I guess times change and we have to put up with diversity or is it just plain vandalism?
