Next time youre in Dallas, go to Sweet Georgia Brown on Ledbedder. Some of the best soul food around.

Admittedly the BBQ in Dallas is not great, but if you get outside town a bit, go do Hard 8 or Hutchins in McKinney.

And this is in addition to (and apart from) the Texas Medical Center (TMC) - which is pretty amazing in the concentration of healthcare facilities in one area, correct?

Yes, I guess Houstonians thought that it would be silly to have one of the best medial centers in the world, yet have so many people without access to it.

The whole "blue state"/"red state" labels are getting annoying from both sides. Thats like saying California and Illinois are the same and Texas and Mississippi are the same.

Bingo, Harris County itself is strongly Democratic. Yet, I think there is a bit of a divide between a Harris County and Travis County. I think Travis has a different approach to its liberalism than Harris. The former seems to me to be more focused on zoning and constructing the city, less on social services. At least that's my opinion. Houston could care less about banning plastic bags or NIMBYism.

Wait, here is something I've never asked before. Why don't most major cities have a comprehensive county health care system much like Harris? It's not perfect or a substitute for universal health care, but it offers a lot of relief. I think it might also have to do with the charity of a lot of the local private hospitals too which provide funding for free services depending on the area of research. So I guess it does help to have one of the largest and most extensive health care centers in the world.

I see barely a hair of a difference between Angelenos and Houstonians honestly. Then again, I can see the similarities between the burbs too, Katy, Ft. Bend and the OC. So yeah it probably is a rural/burban and city thing.
