We couldn't buy the buses from an American company ?

---

LOS ANGELES, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The board of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) signed a contract Thursday with China's BYD Motors Inc. to build 60 all-electric buses.
In the latest step toward a goal of eliminating tailpipe emissions by 2030, Metro awarded a firm fixed-price contract to the BYD for the manufacture and delivery of 60 zero-emission buses for more than 44.96 million U.S. dollars for the base contract.

"We" are into nickeling and diming ourselves, to create boondoggles like the SF Bay bridge, which still has issues with safety, due to the quality of some of the steel components. Good luck, LA! At least you're keeping Chinese citizens employed!

Did you even read the article?

Quote:
"As the world's largest manufacturer of rechargeable batteries and electric vehicles, the BYD established its factory in Lancaster, California in May 2013. With over 560 employees, the BYD factory has now become one of the major job supporting companies in Lancaster."
This purchase is helping support jobs in the very county you live in as these are where the buses will be built.

Also from the article:
Quote:
The board also agreed to buy 35 zero-emission buses from New Flyer of America for the amount of over 51.21 million dollars for the base contract.

Actually they are keeping LA COUNTY citizens employed in an area that needs the jobs too (the High Desert). Did you even read the article?

Great, more fake news from a C-D OP! OP, what, exactly is your beef with this story?

China's the largest manufacturer of rechargeable batteries and electric vehicles because it has the most people, and a command economy that can direct resources wherever it wants, whenever it wants. It's hard for the US to compete with that. And the factory is located near LA, so it wins. Does that answer your question, OP?

How many times are you going to ask me if I read the article, sav? 3rd time's a charm, you know.

This is like complaining about people buying Toyota's and Honda's that are made in American factories across the US.

People buy Toyotas and Hondas in part due to the US manufacturers' history of planned obsolescence, which made a lasting bad impression on consumers. They're the most reliable, long-lived cars out there.

In a Free Economy, we can buy what we want, where want want, from whomever we want.

Wait, you want the Govt to step in and stop this so they are forced to buy POS buses from Ford that cost 1,000,000,000 per bus. lol Give me a break.
