I think the point is that people want health insurance coverage. And they're even more worried, now that the insurance mandate will disappear at the end of 2018, that health insurance may not be available to them.

True, but how many more will sign up with financial help from the Gov't VS those paying the full amount?

Why don't you do some basic research? What is your point? That you don't like people getting financial assistance for health insurance? Yeah we know that.

Edit: As a bonus when you're doing research look up the geographical differences among enrollees in the exchanges. Which states have the most enrollment, which states have the most people receiving subsidies? Is there a correlation between enrollees and states that refused to expand medicaid or create a state level marketplace? Have fun

No you don't.

I was asking a question.

I am in favor of an intelligent Universal health plan and haven't seen one yet.

The Trump administration moved Thursday (1/4/18) to further loosen regulations on health insurance plans, taking a modest step toward the president’s oft-stated goal of rolling back requirements imposed by the Affordable Care Act that many Republicans blame for high premiums.

I'm so frustrated by the state of the ACA in CA, especially in my Region. The last insurance company who sold an off marketplace policy that included the healthcare providers and hospital in my town has pulled out of CA. I have the choice now of Kaiser or a PPO that is so narrow I can't even access the Dr's or Hospital located a few blocks away, where all my providers are and have been for over 25 years.

9 years ago I shopped for an individual policy when I thought I was loosing group plan and I had many choices and every PPO included the local people and places. Not only do I have no choice now but the rates are 2-3x more than they were back then.

Forgive me if I don't give a crap about "destabilizing the ACA" because all that translates to is "if you don't have a group plan and make too much for subsidies you get to pay for everyone else". A silver plan for me is as much as my mortgage pmt, screw that. I hope it blows up entirely.

Of course. Health insurance companies need to make a profit, and when they can't, they pull out of the market.

Exactly right. Individual policy holders have always borne the brunt of rate increases.

Although if it does, it will be much worse than it is now. We need to get rid of the for-profit health insurance industry.

For one thing, the governor of a state does not have that type of power (fortunately).

And there you have it ... the bottom line: health care for profit of providers spells a v a r i c e ... not h e a l t h.
