That's entertainment.
Have to admit the "transhumanist" stuff is weird, but compared to Maxine Waters he seems positively normal.

That certainly is not enough income to live on for a year.

Prop 13 is definitely a subsidy which artificially boosts real estate values. Once Brown's gone it will no longer be so sacrosanct. It's rent control for homeowners. Can't wait until it's gone.
How is letting people keep their own money a subsidy? Only a commie would believe such rubbish.

I have never been to California or the Us. I won't follow California politics at all. Another question is does California have many homeless? What do these people live off? The current situation costs something too.

Universal basic income has been in the media much here. And elsewhere too . But I would be extremely careful about the details. Universal basic income can mean anything. The details are much more important than any theoretical or ideological discussions about this. These schemes might come in full packages. Many of the people who want it want to get rid of all subsidized housing. I don't know if that exists in California. Various benefits are notorious for not keeping up with inflation. If benefits would fall under the meager universal basic income it could also mean no one can live off of that. Imagine a desert full of the cheapest infrastructure where people get warehoused for years so they can just exist there. The details make the difference. Also who is eligible for this and how.

The employment situation for the young and older people approaching retirement had been so bad minimum wage has lost it's meaning. For people with special skills it was not that bad but still risky. Sick , elderly or people without any relevant language skills have it much worse. If half the people you know are unemployed or underemployed you are not bargaining for pay rises that much. I don't think minimum wage is effective if you are approaching Greek level unemployment levels. Minimum wage has to be zero or rather be negative. First this is unthinkable apart some think thank paper but after many years people will warm up to this when they see current reality. The bad economic times are slowly going away but at the same time the ideological results of that are also emerging. The results of this in a growing economy with low levels of unemployment will be very different from an area in economic recession.

Government jobs with a clear social purpose are notorious also for being ineffective , useless or just mentally tedious as in being symbolic. But then you have the people who will be doing underpaid work for long periods of time just so they can do something or to have better chances in the future. The internship problems affect mostly people who are good enough for the work force , but the real problems lie elsewhere.

Housing comes with rules... many on the street shun rules.

California cities like SF have many services and are homeless friendly...

It is much easier to live on the street in San Francisco than Minneapolis due to the mild weather of much of the Bay Area.

Thousands of families have Housing Vouchers and unless you knew... you would never know as the Vochers are for single family residential homes...

It is not uncommon for a family in an assisted home to pay less than a $100 rent share each month and the homeowner next door is paying close to $4000 for principal, interest, taxes, insurance...

Alaska's is paid for by oil reserves. That the state of Alaska owns. They didn't steal resources from citizens of the other 49 states to fund that income.

They also have a pretty harsh environment, so them being "overrun" by anyone is not likely to happen.

This is a great idea. Of course, housing costs will rise in the biggest metros but that's because both rich and poor live here. The poor struggle but they have no choice because the smaller, irrelevant metros don't have the economy that can allow them to afford housing there. If they receive a basic income they will be able to afford housing there without having to work multiple jobs AND be on welfare just to survive like they already do here in the big cities.

Just wait until he starts taxing all California residents to pay for their transformation to cyborgs.

And, yes, that's part of his "plan" too.

Folks, read up on this guy before thinking he's some sort of miracle worker.

At least Maxine Waters isn't suggesting that we all be hooked up to machines in order to become immortal.

But then again, the thinking of some might be clearer if they were hooked up to machines.

Remember CA leads the Nation. Currently in really bad or ... well shall we say; mentally challenged candidates.

All parties and ideologies.

Actually, Zoltan Istavan already ran for President in the 2016 election.

And we all know how THAT one turned out.
