Robert Stark talks to Zoltan Istvan about his Proposal for a California State Basic Income - The Stark Truth With Robert Stark

"The Federal government’s net worth of natural resources is at least $130 trillion dollars. California is the third largest state in the U.S., and its 45 million federal acres of land could be worth $10 to $20 trillion dollars."

"If every household — and there are about 13 million in California — received this sort of 5 percent annual payout, it would be about $57,500 per household, or nearly $5,000 a month. In short, it would dramatically change the lives of tens of millions of people — especially the nearly 40 percent of Californians who live at, below or near the poverty line of $24,000 for a family of four."

One of the first things it would do is cause the cost of everything to rise a huge amount. More people with more money and ... an example, the fewer houses currently on the market would simply cause housing prices to go up and up. Then cars, food, everything would rise in cost until the money would be worth no more than food stamps, etc., right now.

Houses are one thing, but cars not necessarily, since you can get a car anywhere

You, too, can make your citizenry dependent on annual cash payouts! Alaska did it first!

But seriously, California really needs a governor names Zoltan. I'm in!

The median home price in Santa Clara is over $1 million. California should bump up the state income tax to 25% on every household making over $200k to pay for a basic income.

I'm hoping that's sarcasm.

Let me guess, you make less than $200k?

It would be a lot cheaper than the welfare system we have now.

So let's see. Giving away a small amount of free money in the form of a basic income would cause property to go up but giving away larger amounts of free money in the form of Prop 13 doesn't cause property to go up?

California property owners are some of the biggest welfare cases in the biggest welfare state in America.
