If there is one thing you should know about me, I LOVE the desert! I was born in it, raised in it, and I now thrive in it! So, I read somewhere that the Mojave Desert (Victor Valley, Antelope Valley, Morongo Basin, Death Valley, etc.) is the hottest and driest desert in the nation. I always thought that the Low Desert portion (Coachella Valley, Imperial Valley, Palo Verde Valley, etc.) was THE hottest and driest, but I'm not so sure now. Which desert in California tends to be the hottest? The driest? How about the coldest?

Any answers answers are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Death Valley is the hottest. Yuha desert (along I-8 west of El Centro) is the driest. Owens Valley is the coldest.

The Sonora Desert around Yuma is really hot but not as hot as Death Valley. But if you want somewhere you can drive to easily then go to the Sonora Desert.

Question for you Brandon, as a fellow American and since you love the desert so much: if you had a horse, would you give it a name? It does seem like you can remember your own

Yes. Yes, I would. I actually bear a very good memory (well, maybe).

You could argue the Salton Sink area since it's under sea level as further south than DV, but DV has ridiculously high mountains on other side (like Cabazon pass) that trap in the heat. Avg daily high in Juily = 116.5
