If I ever moved back to California:
1) Somewhere near Vandenberg AFB: Buellton, Solvang, Santa Ynez, Los Alamos (these places are in between VAFB and Goleta/Santa Barbara so they are in between two job centers). Pismo Beach, Grover Beach, Lompoc, Arroyo Grande. Great weather (I like cool; don't mind fog.) Closer to our parents in Agoura Hills and Calabasas. Hit and miss schools. Scenic, not overcrowded. Two to three hours from LA: Dodger game, LAX, weekend activity, etc.

2) Seal Beach/Huntington Beach: Accessible to jobs within a commutable distance to El Segundo and Irvine. Good Schools. Flawless weather.

3) Maybe somewhere in the Bay Area with jobs? Not sure - don't know the Bay Area well enough. Probably not Ventura County (not enough jobs for me), otherwise Thousand Oaks, Westlake, Agoura Hills, Camarillo, Ventura, Oak Park.
