You know, I'm honestly quite surprised just how cheap the town of Trona is.
Recently, I was looking for cheap houses to buy or rent on Realtor and Zillow, and some of the cheapest areas to do so that I've found so far are Desert Hot Springs (Even cheaper than Thousand Palms!
), Blythe, Needles, Landers, Twentynine Palms, Barstow, Lenwood, Hinkley, Daggett, Yermo, Newberry Springs, Boron, North Edwards, Mojave, and of course, Trona.
For Trona, the cheapest house that I came across was for only $22K, and is located on 12355 G Street. Wow!
However, for Hinkley, I found a single house for only around $7,500. But, that's besides the point...
I'm also a bit surprised of how shaded (well, a little bit) some areas of Trona are (mostly tamarisk trees).
I don't know about you guys, but somehow the idea of cheap housing in outlying rural desert areas is appealing to me. Hey, I love heat and the openness and the fauna/flora that survive in desert areas and all that other stuff.
Perhaps Trona may just be my location for retirement once I get to that age. Who knows...
So, uh... What are your thoughts on this? Let me know!
