Default The California Advertisement that is running across the nation...

There is an advertisement Ahnold and his wife with various celebrities...touting the beauty and fun of California...do you think this ad represents the state or doesn't do it justice...do you think it is designed to get people to visit California or to move there? I ask because on a radio station here in Texas, they were talking about it saying no way...you can't ask Texans to take California over Texas...I personally thought it was touting California as a vacation destination but maybe I was wrong.

They play that ad on TV here too. I think it only highlights the life of leisure the wealthy and famous are able to afford in California that eludes the 95% that are too busy working to make ends meet.

It is a tourist ad. If you notice the end, it says "Visit California" which is the slogan/name of the state's Tourist Department.
Here is the youtube video of the ad:

For crying out loud, give it a rest ... Just because you're miserable and are in an obviously miserable situation doesn't mean the rest of us Californians are.

Why don't you go throw yourself a pity party or something ... whine, whine, whine.

I tell ya' what I'm busy doing ... getting ready to move back to the coast to take advantage these great housing prices.

Monterey County ... here I come! I LOVE California!

It's too reliant on celebrity. This state is way beyond Hollywood, but I guess that's just smart marketing.

^^ Exhibit A of the attitude of those old enough to have originally acquired property in California years ago at reasonable prices.

It is touting California as a vacation destination, and I don't think the ad really represents everything that California offers, because their really is so much more to enjoy here

Many states run tourism ads all the time. What part of "Visit California" do they not understand?

The web address posted at the end of the ad is visitcalifornia.com

Yet one of the many reasons I don't live in Texas anymore. Obviously reading comprehension is a major problem.

Why do you have to hijack every thread with this same old complaint? Especially since you know it's not true. As you know from our previous discussions, we both were pretty much in the same situation. We both lived in OC. And we both were faced with exorbitant housing prices.

Except for one big difference. You obviously paid too much for your OC house. We choose not to and moved out to the desert so we could buy a cheap house that we could actually afford. Now that we're making more money and don't owe much on our current house, we can actually afford to move back to the coast again.

So don't make me out to be one of these people who just happened to luck out and bought back when California coastal prices were really cheap. Nothing could be further from the truth ...

What I did do is live within my means, which has now put me in a great position to take advantage of falling housing prices.
