Here's someone who was helped by a friend and former classmate. See post #7664 about Mr. Pleasants, a Yale grad who had become homeless in L.A.

A Yale grad and ex-banker ended up homeless in Los Angeles. Then a fellow alum made an unexpected offer:

"In the summer of 2028, hundreds of thousands of athletes, support staff and tourists will flood into Los Angeles for the 34th Olympiad, all needing a roof over their heads immediately. Within hours, they will all find one.

Meanwhile, nearly 60,000 men, women and children continue to languish on L.A. sidewalks, underpasses, in cars and crowded shelters, their numbers growing every year — and our leaders say it will take years to find them shelter.

So here’s an idea: What if we treated homeless Angelenos with the same urgency and humanity that we will treat the visiting rowers and gymnasts? What if we eradicated homelessness not in eight years, or three years, but in a matter of months?

Believe it or not, there’s a plan for that."

Imagine if L.A. put the same effort into housing the homeless that it does Olympic athletes:

At the end of the day, some people are a waste of oxygen.

Thanks for this update. I'm so glad Pleasants found the help from a fellow Yale alum.

I heard on the radio that if these filthy bums cause a fire people harmed can now sue the city for not clearing them out. And insurance companies can sue the state to be reimbursed for payments they had to make because of fires the bums started.

We're paying $600,000 per cargo container to house the homeless?! And some people have the nerve to claim that all this "housing shortage" stuff isn't one big scam?

The issue of “housing shortage”, with regard to homelessness (this thread’s topic being “homeless issues”), isn’t whether housing inventory exists. It’s the cost of housing inventory being prohibitive for lower income and otherwise marginalized residents.
