He has been busy adding on and customizing the family ranch for his retirement home... no plans to leave California...

That's a big increase. You should have received a "thank you for contributing to our pensions" note from state employee unions. Looks like I will keep driving my 2000 Honda until it falls apart.

My new car is year 2002 and the only new car I have ever bought... I too refuse to jump on the new car bandwagon and throw thousands to the State...

I believe California is the only State that requires a fee NOT TO DRIVE your car when it is Non-Op

Worked in Europe for a time right after college and still keep in touch with friends there... Europe is not know for low cost living but that said... my friends simply can't believe the level of taxation we have in California...

Funny... when they come to visit... they always comment on how in America the prices are before tax whereas over there the prices advertised are after tax... the price posted is the total price...

Once Willie Rosa becomes governor of California we'll be talking about taxes in 2018 as the "good old times".

I had this brain freeze moment after reading this. And then slowly, like a sloth, I started to laugh out loud.

So, you think Willie Rosa will win? I like that idea better than Gloomsome.

You guys are so predictable.

There is no subsidy for gas prices LOL. So, if I buy a gallon of gas in San Jose, I pay the same price as the rich guy in the Hummer per gallon. Hence, we're all paying an "equal" fair share.

You guys need to google photos of smog in CA in, say, 1970, for Los Angeles. Then, google the same view today.

And I remember when the roads were actually smooth and not like they all had been in a war zone with land mine explosions. I'd love to see the roads fixed.

And blah blah on the pensions. All taxes in CA don't pay for the pensions. Tired of the pension rhetoric as the cause for all woes.

Define fair share?

What is a fair share and should that not indicate everyone pays the same or it would not be fair? Any tax or fee?

If you go back and read post #46, you'll see it was answered but in case you didn't, here's the quote:
