Brown already stated right out the gate at least 30% will be used for other projects. Status queue.

Nope, we aren't buying this bs this time. We know where they want to funnel this cash. Public Unions in CA are in for a bumpy ride. It's about time this all came to a head.

You all should get a kick out of this. Today I was driving on a city street in San Jose, and hit a divet/pothole at a construction site, and my transmission failed.

It was in a construction zone and there were a bunch of trucks and construction workers. The problem was a line across the road that looked like it had been dug out for pipes or a cable line or something, where they had jackhammered a hole across the road. But, then they didn't fill it in sufficiently, so instead of filling it level with the pavement surface, there was a deep divet there.

So, I hit the divet, and there's a big clunk noise, jarred my teeth, and instantly I am in neutral - just revving the engine when I hit the gas. No gears would engage.

All I could do was coast off to the side of the road, and call AAA.

The good news is, I learned you can file a claim with the city. I had my truck towed to my mechanic, thanks to AAA. And after I find out what the cost will be, and I pay it, I can file a claim with the city.

The state also has a claims form you can submit if your vehicle gets damaged on a state road.

Makes me wonder if part of the reason for these taxes is to mitigate the cost of paying out claims for damages to vehicles due to potholes, etc.

Anyway, I had to laugh (while crying and waiting for the AAA tow truck) that after our discussion on this thread, I end up with my truck seriously damaged due to potholes LOL. Although, I think this was more than a normal pothole. Looked like a botched jackhammer job, where they repaired a water line or something like that.

I never would have thought I could submit a claim, but a friend told me that she had successfully submitted a claim with Cal Trans for damage due to a pothole on a state highway, and I should look into it.

But, if I can successfully file a claim against the city or state for damage due to potholes, why should I also pay for an additional tax? Got me thinking. And it was sadly funny that this happened to me today.

I'm so glad I pay for AAA every year. Rarely need it, but when I do, it's such a life saver.

My mechanic should be able to look at the truck tomorrow, and then I'll know the extent of the damage.

I don't know about road claims in LA but I'm sure there are a lot. Heck a sink hole swallowed a whole car a year ago. What I do know is there are a lot of claims for the sidewalks that are so damaged by roots and age people in wheel chairs can't even use them and lots of people trip and fall badly.

Bet it wasn't in Beverly Hills.

Filing a claim and actually getting paid for a claim are two separate things.

That could be solved with a credit for non-ownership for the, what, 4 adults in CA who do not own a vehicle.

Because Big Oil does not gouge us.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Lol! Lol! Times 1000! Are you a company schill? Be honest. Price of crude has barely increased yet big price jump in the last 12 months. And the fake refinery shutdowns

Plus the special gas for CA is only about 2% better than the gas available in other States for emissions and it isn't quite as good for mileage, so basically just a more expensive gas with no real benefit anymore.

Yeah, it's worth paying for a Costco membership just for the discounted gas. It's top tier, too.
