This could be expanded to other cities as well, but I'm curious when the last time many California residents (specifically those in LA and SF...but not regular SD/LA commuters) were in San Diego.

I live in OC, and the last time I was in San Diego was probably 5-6 years ago.

Too much traffic on the 5, so I don’t go much anymore. Last time was a couple months ago.

I was there in July. The traffic on the 5 was a nightmare and PB looked pretty much the same as it did when I lived in SD 10+ years ago, only a bit shabbier and more run down. Hillcrest and North Park have changed a lot (for better and worse), and the weather was fantastic as usual.

I miss the weather and the beaches, but like a lot of other places in CA, SD has mostly just gotten more crowded/expensive, and it was probably more fun to live there when I did than it would be now.

It's been a couple of years, but I used to go quite frequently when my brother lived there (for over 10 years). He moved to Las Vegas last year, though, and I haven't been to SD since... I miss it, tbh! Great city.

I should add to my response, that when my children were younger we went to San Diego frequently. We usually had either Zoo/Safari Park or Sea World passes, and we would go on weekends and school holidays.

The last time I headed down that way was about two years ago. I wasn't going to San Diego, but to San Marcos. It was late on a Saturday morning, and the 5 was bumper-to-bumper. It took me 1.5 hours to go the 40 miles from my house in south OC to Oceanside. Really gave me the feeling that I never wanted to do this again.

I live in North County OC, last time went down there was about 1.5-2 years ago. That I-5 drive deters me from going there more often.
