Default Why do the California posts scare the devil out of people who want to relocate their?

I have been sneaking and reading forums from various citys for a month now. I notice that Californians scares the devil outta me with all the negative posts. If it is the housing costs that is the problem well I "think", I have a solution. Why not look into tax liens and get your house in a decent neighboorhood that way. I remember watching tv and this guy bought a $1.5 million dollar mansion but, he lost it and the person who purchased it payed $400,000.However, this was in florida but, I am sure it could work anywhere. Now I am not into real estate but I think this might be a clever way to afford to live out california. Though, I hear everything negative about cali, from gangs headquarters where the super rich live, to poor schools, and, heaven knows what else.

I am looking for a place to relocate myself and at the end of the day I keep coming back to california so, I would like to here from people who have cleverly gotten their home from a tax lien or even people who may object to obtaining housing that way. Look forward to hearing from all of you.

I suppose you might find a bargain up for auction, but there's a lot of competition. I've heard of more good cars being bought that way than houses.

There are places where you can buy a home at a reasonable price, it's just that those places are either unfriendly little hick towns (like where I live), or they're located in one of the less pleasant climate zones, like the northwest corner or the southeast corner.

Hey check out my new thread that reference the new article regarding how S. Cal. has huge quality of life issues because of our traffic, housing prices and air quality. F's and D's for grades. Still think we are from somewhere else? Well, I guess one would have to not live here to accuse us of it. This doesn't even mention the illegal immigration issue. So it only tells a partial story about why people post the stuff they do that concerns people that may want to move here.

Ok I read it and I know I might catch some heat with what I am about to say but, we already knew that the traffic is the worst in the U.S. so, a D is no surprise to me. However, the F in housing and education, well, I knew families were struggling but, to spend 30% of your income thats ridiculous so, with that said that is maybe why I came up with the tax lien theory to help create a way to handle the costs. THough, someone already said it would'nt really work(nothing that an enlightened RE agent can't fix). Now as for the F in education it appears it is isolated areas LA, Riverside, and San Berdino. Although from reading other posts in the forums let them tell it it is public and private schools in the whole state . Now with all that said I see that California is a huge state and it just seems too unreal that all these problems resinates throughout California.... I guess theirs only one way to find out

I encourage all to leave, I think Texas is the next best thing. Please leave. This state holds the finest landscapes in the free world, aside from Southern Utah and ,... too many people wandering around in them.

I am not so sure, I agree with the air quality being bad. I have lived in So Call all of my life (42 years), and I can recall as a youth, that my lungs used to burn, on a bad smoggy day. It seems like there are more clear days, now than there used to be. But I still wanna leave here.
You are probably not going to hget a killer deal on a home in So Cal, because there is a lot of people in the "real estate" game/market here. You will have to know what you're doing.
My wife and I paid $440,000 for our house, with no down. Our payment is about $3K a month...just to give you an idea.

Happenstance,California is a Big State and is Very Diverse in it's Towns,Cities,Landscapes,Climates,Population,Cultur e,etc,so the problems and other negative comments that many people have mentioned in this forum does not affect this entire state or the entire population, but it all depends on your location.

California still has many areas where their is No Traffic,Low Crime,No Gangs and English Speaking People.

The one thing that is common throughout this state is the High Cost Of Living, but you can still find more affordable areas in places like the Central Valley, but this affordability is by California Standards.
