If you are a public employee, that claim is certainly valid. But for everyone else, there is a real financial loss that would continue forever.

I am amazed at people who think we can't repair the roads without having THE highest gas tax and registration fees. Do they think the other 49 states all have dirt roads and rickety wooden bridges? It is a question of management and allocation, not simple dollar amount.

And I totally understand “the buck stops here” mentality. California pays so much in taxes it’s suffocating. However this particular fund is spent on something tangible and mutually beneficial to all classes of people. This money creates an opportunity for all cities and counties in the state to repair and construct new transportation facilities that make places desirable to live. There’s a lot of cool projects that will get postponed for years if SB1 goes away. This funding is greatly needed.

Cool projects is not what we need who cares if big freeway signs are painted on the asphalt, those will be washed away in a few years and gov will beg for more money to repaint them. We need useful projects like more freeways.

I just paid my car registration. When I bought the 85 olds in 1996 I never ever expected the registration to exceed 80.00 but it has in leaps & bounds. $121.00 in 2018 , 93.00 in 2017, 83.00 in 2016 & not long before that it was 67.00. Vote YES on 6.

To support your argument, take a look at Arizona. Gasoline prices are over $1.00 less than California and their roads are in better condition. Their auto registration fees are also much lower.
