I plan on moving to Cali (from New Jersey) by Summer 2020. I am looking to live in a suburb of LA. I'm beginning my research, and I'm looking to see where the best school districts are (I will have a 10th and 7th grader then). Also looking to see what is the best hospital to work for, and the best nursing schools. Any information that you all can provide would be most helpful. Thanks!!!
UCLA is the best research hospital in SoCal bar none. The other major academic hospitals are CHLA, USC/County, UCI Medical Center, CHOC, Rady's Children's, UCSD Medical Center. All of the other hospitals named in this thread are not academic hospitals. If your goal is research you should not be looking at those as it would be a waste of time.

The best school districts are outside of LA City. You can reasonably compare them by looking at the district API scores. I have no clue what the best nursing schools are.

Don't listen to this OP. I was born and raised here and say "Cali" all the time. So do most of my friends who are also from here. This is something people like to say online that really isn't true.

BTW, I'm a native and it never bothered me at all whoever said it and only heard the fussing after I joined City Data! Lol!
Same. Only people online. Literally never in real life have I heard anyone complain about this. Maybe because we all say it. LOL people are funny.

OP, I don't have any advice about schools and what not, but I just wanted to say welcome to "Cali"!

I think people here make way too much out of people using the term Cali.
