It was worth a shot.

You know, I’ve made no secret about being an atheist myself ... but, I’ll tell you one of the most profound quotes I’ve ever heard from history is that attributed to Christ on the cross when he is said to have looked to the heavens and uttered:

“Forgive them Father, they know not what they do.”

Truer words never spoken.

The downside is the families of those 737 people on death row will not be happy. I can think of one in particular and cannot wait to hear what they have to say about it.
I know what you are saying but I'm not sure how you get closure from someone dying

I don't think life in prison is going easy on someone.

I'll say. Not only that. Everything He said is the Truth.

You don't get closure. I've said for years that it's a word made up by psychiatrists so they can justify charging you $150/hr. Proof of that is a conversation I had with a gentleman after he attended an execution of the man that murdered his daughter. He told me he thought he would finally get closure but there was nothing. Still the emptiness in his heart. I've been hoping since the late 80's that the DP would be abolished. One, for the reason I just stated. Second, it's far more costly to go through Appeals and writs of Habeas Corpus and third, there have been too many executed who were, in fact, innocent of the crime. Not only that, it hasn't been a deterrent to stop people from killing.

I don't think the death penalty is barbaric, but it is costly. Then again, anyone who qualifies for the death penalty needs to be locked up forever and that means being cared for until they die by the taxpayers of CA. Is being locked up forever barbaric too? Some say yes, and that's where we part ways.

Jus give the worst of the worst free hot meals, medical and dental. That’ll show em SMH.
If want to get rid of the death penalty then also get rid of protective custody...
