We can't sell the house unless we are willing to lose $ 30-60 K. I'd hate to be the first dude losing on CA real estate.

Before the fire we had a constant stream of refugees from the Bay area and beyond. That will never come back. The only lookers are now people with very deep roots in Paradise, like the people born here or lived here for 20-40 years.

The sad thing is we still love this town and we'd chance another fire, but the relentless rise in the cost of taxes ( all these bonds for everything) and home insurance are forcing us out.

Great. Let's all get together and find something that CA4Now values lifestyle wise, and make him/her a felon for doing it or owning it. It can be anything, even as entirely vacuous as a gun or ammo ban. Something that gun owners don't own or care about, so that they don't feel any restrictions. Because that's the logic of liberals, which is we can take away anything we want from the Constitution as long as we aren't affected by it.

lol violating the out of state ammo law isn't a felony, a first offense is an infraction which means you pay a fine. Subsequent violations can be charged as misdemeanors.

CA4now is like that....probably too young to remember this ....

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me

What are you going to do with your house? Where are you going? My friends mother in law lived in Paradise. Her house didn’t burn but they wish it did because they can’t sell it. She lives in OC now.

We lived in Fullerton from 1980 to 2015 when we moved to Paradise. I love Paradise, the best place for an older couple, even better than Sarasota, my second favorite.
We could sell this house in 2 days if we drop the price to 50% of what we paid.
My destination could be Bella Vista, Arkansas with Brevard, NC as a backup.

Paradise was wonderful before and now with 85% of the population gone it is even more quaint. We still have more trees than Stanton or Garden Grove. But the lack of services is hurting, plus the cost of insurance will become unaffordable unless you make $ 90 K a year.
If we could freeze the prop. tax and home ins. at current levels we could / might spend our last 10 years here, fires or not.

Doesn't change the fact that it's ridiculous law. I mean, who doesn't want a misdemeanor on their record. These laws are complete and utter BS. There are enough wobblers out there already to tack onto a felon's record.

Examples of more lobotomy.

New laws, one gun a month? Really? How dumb is this? A felon already cannot purchase a firearm. This is just stupid layered on absurd.

These laws are about as "common sense" as our MJ, or homeless laws. Anyway Sleepy, happy new year

I'm probably old enough to be your grandmother, and have lived in California for decades. But thanks for the thought.

There are a lot of ridiculous laws, hundreds, maybe thousands of them. Like you can't park in front of your own home for more than 72 hours. But this ammo law is so toothless that it's just strange to see people work themselves up into a frenzy over it.
