Why does that matter for kids?

Their decision seemed to be based on risk of severe disease not transmission.

I know by now which people here won't listen, but yeah of course that matters indirectly. Because kids do spread the virus to adults (easily in households), that alone probably can keep it widespread in society and sometimes it impacts family members enough to hurt the kids' lives. "But we don't vaccinate kids to protect adults" is untrue - the chickenpox vaccine is mostly to protect adults (current adults and kids when they grow up). It doesn't matter as much in Sweden as it does here.

We don't. If an adult doesn't have a chicken pox vaccination they can get one.

Let often stupid adults determine public health is not the standard approach to risky viruses that can be handled through measures like vaccinating kids. Besides, as you should know, adults usually have some protection against chickenpox left over from childhood shots. This world is not a laissez-faire fantasy.

Yeah again vaccinating kids to protect stupid adults is unethical. Not all adults have had the chicken pox vaccine as children either.

I didn't say all have had it. You can call it "unethical," but that's quietly what's done with the mandatory chickenpox vaccine for children, and it has worked out well and it would be fantastic if a COVID vaccine for kids worked anywhere near as well.

No that's to protect children.

So much for all the hysteria. It's mutating again. How is it getting by those masks? hmmmm?

Suddenly changing the argument when you realize the other route can't win. I can't prove the chickenpox vaccine is mandatory for kids mostly to prevent adulthood issues, but that's mostly because mainstream sources would never say that. Plenty of evidence points in the direction of adult health, just like COVID-19 is a bigger menace to adults. California government will mandate a COVID-19 vaccine for schoolkids eventually and not much for kids' benefit, despite your objections.

How am I changing the argument? Win what exactly? Of course you can't prove it. Chickenpox is mainly a childhood disease. Shingles is the one adults need to worry about and there is a separate vaccine for that.

They've already mandated it as it's politically popular here.
