Talking Bakersfield Photos / Pictures

So I've had fun reading post on this site for some time. What irks me a little is how much negativity there is towards California’s central Valley cities. There are many Southern CA and Bay area people who seem to think their way of life is the only way. I grew up in the Valley, but I spent several years in Orange County as well, both the nice and not so nice parts. Now, I'll admit that the Valley has its problems, smog being #1, however, there’s plenty to complain about in the other areas as well. Anyway, I noticed that with all the talking, there are not many pictures of Valley cities. I’m currently living in Bakersfield and I decided to put some pictures up of the areas I've found that I like.

Feel free to add to this thread with other pictures of Bakersfield, the good the bad and the Ugly, we don't want to be too biased here.

I love Hart Park! This thread is a great idea. If I get a chance this weekend I'll go out and try to take some pics although mine will probably be of dorky things like CSUB, the Marketplace, and some other stuff from the Northwest.

Nice pictures. I have never been to the park at River Walk, but after viewing the pictures, I think I'll have to check it out sometime soon. I am planning to ride the Kern River bike path one of these days (or at least part of it), and that may be a good opportunity to check it all out. These pictures show some parts of Bakersfield I haven't seen, and since I'm not too far away, I'd like to check out those places. And to think, I thought I had seen almost all of Bakersfield.

Yes, there are some great pictures! FYI, since the tittle didn't come out on those pictures they are of: Riverwalk park (I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the development done with some of the stores), Hart park, Kern Soccer fields, Stockdale hwy, Panorama park/road, one or two of the downtown area, and East Bakersfield off the 178 near the city in the hills development.

I'd love to see more pictures, maybe some of the various neighborhoods! I'll do some more later when I have time.
