In Jan and Feb we were running quite a bit above 2019, but March has been really quiet. Only 12 homicides in March, the last one per LA Times was back on March 21st.
Thanks, I'll keep tabs on it now.

The CHP isn't putting up with gross violations. I've seen Facebook posts from various offices all over the state that announce the citations (complete with picture of violator's car and redacted citation) for excessive speed.

Columbus and Louisville are surprising, never would've equated them as being violent.

How many crimes go unreported or undiscovered? No one takes that into consideration.

What makes you so sure “no one takes that into consideration”? Bureau of Justice Statistics tracks figures, for example. Which are used by many entities and police departments in various ways in most venues for planning and education.

And, are you suggesting unreported ratios are any different in California than anywhere else? If so, why?

They are under reported and I know first hand. I've lived there. California police DO NOT like to file police reports and will go to wild lengths not to do so. I don't blame the actual ground officers themselves but once you go through the process there is some serious fish stank going on. Break ins, robbery, theft, ya forget it...sorry about your luck.

Probably political reasons, maybe it effects property values, who knows

Gated communities, gated windows, with lower crime than Mayberry, something isn't adding up

I live in California as well. Not arguing there is crime ... not arguing it is all reported. Asked whether the poster I responded to thinks it is different in California. I can’t find any information that supports that.

Living in California “first hand” is anecdotal - not statistical or other proof.
