I don't know of ANY National Forests that ban dogs out west. Don't know much about the regulations on the eastern National Forests.

A few have leash regulations in a few areas. In almost all areas of National Forests your dogs have be under voice command, but allowed off-leash.

I think you are confusing National Forests with National Parks.

Dogs are banned on ALL National Park trails and must be on leash in other areas.

Ok, I don't have a dog, but I had a neighbor that had to take in her DDs dog, when the family went camping in some State Park, here in California, as the dog was not allowed. Op will still need to check for the pet policy wherever they end up going.

Also, some of the State Parks we visit, no dogs allowed at all.

I have never done it but know several people that had their vets prescribe drugs for their dogs.
As I mentioned I have never done it but thought about it for my big scaredy-cat of a dog.

We don’t do fireworks here.
My family and I are scared to start a fire and pay for the damage.
That doesn’t stop most of my neighbors though and we are 150 yards from the fire station.

Our last two dogs were street rescue strays so it was anyone's guess what they endured prior to life with us. Both hated loud noises though, no doubt. The 4th was always hell for them living under the umbrella of multiple firework activities. We finally resorted to giving them acepromazine and it worked but I was never really comfortable doing it. For one of them, the meds would make their eyes wander separate directions or go completely crossed.

Are there any counties that are known to have less/zero fireworks due to bans, small population etc?

Fireworks are illegal in Ventura. We go there.

Trazodone. We have an anxious dog and give him one on the 4th of July, Halloween, before vet visits, and long car rides. Works wonders.
