Default San Luis Obispo?

I read recently that SLO is a good place to buy right now. It is seriously expensive but is a beautiful place. Anybody know what it's like living there?

Your question brings to mind a post I saw a while back where someone from Maine moved to SLO and described the experience of living there and how it contrasts with the east coast. Search for a post by "sayfrog" on the thread “Best Place to Live in CA?” incase this direct link to the post fails:

Thanks cre8, will check it out. I just noticed there is another thread about SLO and the information about the college community was very helpful. Not good, but helpful!

Default slo

I grew up in SLO. It is a wonderful place to live. Nice weather, safe, good schools, ect. It's getting more expensive. So many people are moving into SLO from the north, south and east. House prices have shot up. It's changing from what it used to be. I don't know how much it will end up going up. Should have bought a house 10 years ago here...it would be worth a lot now. The majority of people moving in here are retired or college students. People like me who want to start a family and buy something is impossible. We shall see what happens to the market.

We have lived in this area for a long time and my suggestion is to give this county or any other county proper due dilligence if you plan on buying a home. I have friends that have the money but are not willing to buy a home in our market for a few years because they say it is unstable. Read all you can, talk to as many informed people as you can and then make your descision. What is right for one persons motives to buy may not be right for anothers. Aside from all of that, this is a beautiful area with a lot to offer with the exception of many well paying jobs. At anyrate we are greatful to be a part of this community and if can have the opportunity it would be great to have you to.
