Cool thread OP.

The Bakersfield home is in a nice area. Not the best but nice. It's also zoned for a brand new Elementary School slated to open this fall, Highgate Elementary. I think it should be a pretty good school. Paid for solar is also a huge plus. On a two story 2,500 sqft home if the system is sized properly (from the number of panels and add description i would say yes) that is likely going to be an average cost savings of about $350 per month or even more.

Our solar system on our house in Bakersfield that we purchased a little over a year ago has dropped our PGE bill from an average of $385 per month to $0. Normally you would have at least a $10 monthly grid fee but since we sized our system to be larger we had a negative true-up balance of about $200 at the end of the first year so now our $10 monthly fee just gets taken out of the credit we have built up in our account.

Of course we have to pay the home equity loan off but any buyer would inherit the house with no electric bill and no loan payments. A nice savings.

Typical HVAC like nearly every other house. We have two units and they are older. Large house. I figure if they die in a couple years and have to be replaced that will only increase the amount of electricity we can use to charge an EV when we eventually buy one. That might be about 5-8 years down the road though.

Bakersfield still has nice homes for less than $300,000 and even less than $200,000 in some communities...Bakersfield has a mix of old and new neighborhoods/homes just like everywhere else.
