Default School advice in Bakersfield

We are moving to Bakersfield. Don't want to....but don't have a real choice right now. We won't be there more than 2 years... SO.... I need some school advice. Elementary schools. We heard Panaman-Buena Vista is the best school district but when we checked out some of the houses within the area...we said no. We didn't like the areas. We then settled on the NorthWest area... So I was thinking of these schools and wanted some input from someone who either lives in this area or has kids at the school or whomever....

Endeavor Elementary
Discovery Elem. OR.... if you know of a good area in a Panama-Buena Vista school then PLEASE let me know. I know that 7 Oaks is considered a nice area
Centennial Elem. So what about Stockdale Elementary or Ronald Reagan
Olive Drive Elem.
Colombia Elem. HELP!!!! =) lol
Bimat Elem.

Any help? We'll be moving in 2 weeks and have yet to find a rental.... so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if people in Bakersfield are going to rush in to respond to this post.

I doubt it, I don't have kids in school so I know nothing of the school system, when my son was in school I found it was ok but I found it's more up to the parents to see the children get a good education than counting on any school.
I would think any school in the NW would be a fair school.

the fruitvale and norris school districts are the best in Bakersfield Area, Fruitvale is award winning. The Rosedale homes will probably be a lot more to your liking, as well as the lower crime. The California school maps shows this pretty well.

This is so true...I've heard of students doing very well in schools that had a poor rating,so it honestly all depends on the upbringing of your kids whether they are motivated to Learn and Graduate.

Genetics might have something to do with it too.

I didn't mean to be offensive.... just don't really want to move at all so I just wanted some advice to ease the move... sorry if I offended you.

My kids were in the Fruitvale school district when they were young. They attended Discovery elementary and Fruitvale junior high. We were very happy with the schools but that was in the early nineties. Can't say if they've changed at all but I would imagine they are still good because they are still in a very nice part of town.

Don't worry Marski, if you stick to the NW part of Bakersfield it isn't so bad. Especially since you'll only be there a few years. When we lived there it was very family orientated, lots of swimming and activities with the schools. My kids loved living there then. We spent 4 years there and had some good times but felt land-locked after awhile and had terrible alergies from the air quality. We ended up moving back east. Good luck on your move.

Send them to private school if you are really concerned with a good education as you will likely not find it otherwise...

Default bakersfield

Hi, my nephew and niece go to Bimat Elementary near Coffee Road; the family is pretty happy with it. Their API is a 9 on the map.
Good luck.
