Almost like none wants to live in a tiny town in the middle of the desert.

I drove through Trona last October. Not much to it. Surprised to read that close to 1,500 people live there. Honestly thought it was in the low hundreds based on how it looks.

There are only 2 homes for sale in Trona right now. This is the good one ($69,990): https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1...17483411_zpid/

Go for it! While you're at it invest in Gary, Indiana...

I thought Alturas in Modoc County had the cheapest housing in the state. Trona was one of the locales hit hardest by those large quakes that were centered near Ridgecrest two years ago.

Needles, CA is the second-cheapest after Trona, CA, but it gets up to 128 degrees in the summertime. You can commute to Las Vegas.

I know about that one. I've heard there is a lot of pollution from the salt, and the high school's football field is sand, rather than grass.

I still recall stopping in Trona to gas up the truck on my way to Death Valley back in January, 1988. I recognized the Trona Tornadoes sign from the 2008 movie Just Add Water (which I liked).

I'm from CA but have been living in central AZ for 30+ years now...guess I was destined for hot weather.

Trona is an awesome locale, for off-roading. But, NOT in the Summertime.

Like Death Valley, it's the crazy Europeans that visit during the silly Summertime. Nothing like a few obese Germans that want to "experience" high temps. They just don't know, what they don't know. The coyotes will find 'em toot sweet. (Sadly, this isn't a rare occurrence.)

Also, for the most part, the people that live out there don't want to be found. (If, you know what I mean...)

The first time I drove through Trona, I thought maybe I'd accidentally wandered into the set of some post-apocalyptic film...
