I've lived in So Ca since I was six and have never heard anyone call it "Cali" (other than in a song...such as that one by Notorious B.I.G.).
Have you thought of San Diego, specificially The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club? They have rooms right on the beach and it's beautiful. Not very warm in November, though, and as said above, probably too cold to go in the water.

Since you didn't say you were going in the water--actually mentioned viewing it from a lounge chair--I wouldn't think water temperature would be an issue. So I'd recommend Cambria--google Cambria Vacation Rentals and you'll find all sorts of nice places to stay. My family just spent four days there in March in a very nice three bedroom house--it was great. You can drive up to Big Sur or tour Hearst castle or drive down to San Luis Obispo when you're not watching the sea otters and sea lions. Be sure to get an ocean view place--it's unbeatable.
And tho' some people might call it "Cali", they shouldn't.

California coastal winter weather is interesting. I grew up in SoCal (OC) and have lived on the Central Coast for 26 years now. Some years, the Thanksgiving weather is balmy and sunny (70's-80's lotsa sunshine) and other years it is downright soggy and cold! (50's-60;s and wet and windy). Just depends on the ocean currents, really. We get warm weather and tropical storms from the south and get frigid artic air swooping down from the north.
So...your guess is as good as anyones.
Do some research and decide what area you would like to visit and go there. My guess is that you will likely be happy no matter how the weather behaves (or misbehaves) if you find an area you are interested in visiting.
Sitting on your balcony warm and protected in your hotel on the beach in Pismo watching the rain gray wall advance in off the ocean with the choppy green waves and wild whistling wind can be a thrilling experience!
There are many, many places up and down the coast that might fulfill your yearning. Remember, our state runs 900 miles from South to North, maybe even more along the irregular coastline.
Decide if you want high population or low. Expensive or budget. Sandy beaches or rocky coastline or forest. Hotel or condo or sfr (single family residence) rental.
Since I currently live in SLO County and believe it to be one of the best places in Ca, I would recommend visiting here. We have many, many fine restaurants that all serve up a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast. You can stay in Pismo on the beach at a wonderful hotel or in a vacation rental on the beach or up a few blocks. You could stay in Avila Beach, the sunniest place on the Central Coast. You could stay in Morro Bay, a fishing village or Cayucous on the beach in a motel/hotel/or beach rental.....
I can tell you for certain, winter is a wonderful time to visit as the tourist count is very low.
Much to see and do here.
