I need to know as soon as possible, how to get that meldew odor out of this load of towels. My son did alittle wash a few days ago. He put a big load of towels and socks in the washing machine to clean them, but he forgot to put the load of towels in the dryer. The towels sat in the washer for about 5-6 days. The smell is very very very nasty!!! I one time left towels in dryer without turning it on for a couple days, so then I washed the load again and put some Pinesol and Super Clean in the load while it was washing, but after drying the towels I took a shower and used one of those towels and it smelled so bad when the towel got wet and made my skin smell just as bad as the towel. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Your input on this is very much appreciated...Thanks againn Marleen

Try rewashing in hot water with vinegar.

I think if you just run them through the washer again in warm or hot water and detergent they
should be fine.

Borax added to the regular detergent and possibly some color safe bleach. I think you can get new towels for pretty cheap though, try Target. They have bath towels for under $4. I hate that mildew smell so I feel your pain.

I think you need to run them through with detergent to kill the mildew germs.

I'd write the towels off and run the washer empty for a couple of loads with hot water and lots of bleach.
