I went to a few graduations for UC Berkeley’s School of Engineering, and most of the B.S. graduates have been Asians.

There is a long history of Asian communities in the Bay Area but the recent rapid growth has mostly been due to tech.

Growing up in the 90s and early 2000s, the South Bay was packed with Asians. I grew up in Milpitas and it felt like more than the ~50% Asian the Census recorded in 2000.

Our city of Sammamish WA is only 65,000 people so not mentioned, but we have gone from 7.89% Asian to 33%, most from India, similar to Bellevue, and about the same increase in Redmond. Like the Bay Area, mostly tech workers, Amazon and Microsoft. When we lived in Castro Valley 1978-1992 with 3 kids in school I only remember one Indian family there, a friend of my oldest daughter, and I knew one Chinese family through youth soccer. Today the demographics there show 31.2% Asian.

When I first lived in San Francisco I was in the middle outer Sunset. Back them ( 1980s ) it was mostly Russian & Middle Eastern immigrants & quite a few whites. Now it appears to be almost exclusively Chinese/Japanese. I worked for a small business & dealt with some advertizing issues ( again 80s/90s. I was contacted by the Asian Yellow pages & was asked to advertise with them, as they claimed the area was more than 50% Asian. I am sure it was, but we did not advertise with them, as the YP was going to be printed in their languages & we did not have a native speaker on staff.
Now if I go to the Richmond, along Clement street is is about 98% Chinese. That population keeps expanding. And it seems others move away.

And of course, Daly City has been known as Little Manilla for years.

That was all the spill over that came from Fremont. Started in East Dubline and then into Windamere in San Ramon. All those new areas are basically Fremont. Livermore/Danville/Pleasanton have changed but, not to the same degree.

Meanwhile parts of San Leandro and San Lorenzo, seem to have increased middle class Asian Demographics. Particularly the neighborhoods zoned to Arroyo HS
