California is wonderful. It has so much to offer. I could not live anywhere else. I am very proud of my state!

Like what? It all depends on what's important to you. For the surfer guy, you could line the streets of any NC town with gold and he wouldn't move, because NC doesn't have the surfing scene like SoCal.

For me, I love motorcycle riding. And even though the western part of NC has great mountain roads, you can't ride part of the year because it's cold/wet.

So for me, SoCal is the ultimate riding destination for twisty canyon roads where I can ride year round.

"Cal is headed down a path in which 15- to 20 years from now it will be like a third world country."
- Highly doubt it...have you ever visited a 3rd world country? You have no basis for this argument other than wishful thinking.

"The political decisions as well as immigration and foolish mortaging of the debt, will come to destroy this once great state."
- Are you talking state-only political decisions? Heck, foolish mortgaging is hurting other states worse than California...last I checked california was Way down on the list of foreclosures.

"The tax base is being replaced, people with small buisnesses as well as professionals are leaving in droves and are being replaced by illegals as well as poorly educated natives."
- Broad, over-reaching statements that have no validity unless you back them up - this is all based on your opinion I'd suppose.

"The us census bureau came out with the numbers last week, please heed this advice for your family and future generations."
-Again, someone already said the US Census doesn't come out til 2010.

You've only replied to this thread twice. With a total of 13 words - and heck, you didn't even confirm which state you're living in. So please, instead of gracing us with a post that has 2 words next time, post some real data/information other than your opinion to back up your statements...otherwise you're just trolling...

I am moving to LA area for my husbands work...unfortunately, it is the best place to devlop his career. I am dreading the move, but am trying to be supportive.

I visited LA 14 years ago and then again 5 years after that. I hated it both times. I have since returned to Southern CA and ventured beyond LA to Orange County and up to the Santa Clarita area...I did like the atmosphere better, but the cost of living there seems ABSOULTELY RIDCULOUS. Even with my husband making almost double what he did in FL; where we bought a 2500sq ft 4 bedroom 3 bath house with a wonderful view of a conservation area...we will barely be able to afford renting a tiny 2 bedroom 2 bath house (probably not in a great area).

We currently live in Las Vegas, which I also feel is crappy compared to Florida...there are some nice areas but the criminal element is rampant. Unfortunatley, we have to follow the work...if anyone has suggestions on a nice place to live (near LA) let me know.

Santa Clarita is a fairly nice place to live. It's mostly newer developement but still has crime...but nothing like other areas. The schools are suppose to be pretty good compared to those closer to Los Angeles. Thousand Oaks is another nice place. There are some pockets of pretty good areas..go where the policemen live!! There are a lot of policemen that live in Simi Valley. They know where the best places to live are.

Have you ever been to Mexico, thats how California will be in the next few decades, 15 percent wealthy and 85 percent poor, foreclosures, go to dq.com, foreclosures go to dqnew.com look at the front page , scroll down, highest in 8 years , U.S. census bureau every few months gives updates on migration patterns happening in the U.S. research latest news. You are very bullish on Ca., hopefully people aren't as naive as yourself.

California will always be a beautiful state; therefore people will always want to live there. It is terribly expensive which is why we moved away but if we win the lottery, we're moving back!

As for those who think the US census is done every ten years, it's true they count PEOPLE every ten years, but they also do other demographic studies and surveys on a continious basis. They don't shut down for 9 1/2 years to come alive and count people every decade.
