It's OK to call it Cali...
As long as you're talking about the city in Colombia.

Of the top of my head....
Personally, I like Pleasanton or Livermore. Pleasanton would be the best, but the rent might be too high. Livermore would be cheaper, maybe in your price range.
For a day care, you would need a license, but you also need to go through a thorough background check, fingerprinting, etc. to be legal. You can also apply for the food assistance program for that county. You get a few hundred dollars a month to pay for proper nutrition for the children. It isn't based on financial need or anything.
Just research your choices fully. I wouldn't recommend moving here (anywhere in central CA) without opening your eyes very widely.
Very interesting with the "Cali" verbage.....I have to admit, I had never heard that term used until I found this website. Now don't get me started with "Frisco"..... (whoa, like nails on a chalk board )

Some one was just asking about Visalia, I wrote a decently long post on it. Its a nice central CA city. just under 120,000 people, the metro is about 3x that. Close to the mountains, 2 hours to the beach, 3 to LA. Cheap rent in nice homes. Lots of good people, nice parks. Oh I just realized its the same poster.
Anyway, other nice part about visalia is that it is only 45 to Fresno, lots of people commute to it from visalia. So if there is something you want to do that visalia doesn't have, fresno probably will.

some valley towns have good schools and small amount of gang problems; kingsburg,Clovis, Lemoore, Hanford, Tulare or Porterville are nice towns. and about the "Cali" word...who cares how people call it, theyre still referring to california...

Get over yourselves Californians! And actually 'Cali' is now a hip term and no where near as (mythically) offensive as 'Frisco'. Puhleease!. Has anyone heard of LLCoolJ ?! heh, heh. (By the way I've been a San Franciscan for the past 21 years...)
Anyway, Lodi is a nice town as well as parts of Modesto. I'd avoid Stockton. Sacramento is a great mid-sized city.

LLCoolJ's song is passe, it was 10 years ago that it came out. That now makes it uncool.
Even urbandictionary.com has "Cali" listed as annoying and used by posers.

These cities are generally considered to be Northern California, not Central California. Although if you look at a map, the Bay Area is pretty much in the middle of the state, in terms of north and south.

There is a huge difference in housing prices between Pleasanton and Valley cities like Visalia. OP should narrow the search to the Central Valley, or the central coast, or the bay area, depending on how much they want to spend.

The only pricey areas in the central coast are around San Luis Obispo. The closer you are to the beach, and the better the weather, the more the price goes up. The further you are to the beach, and the hotter the weather, the cheaper the price of homes.
