They've got em in Modoc county too. Typically, what you will find there are referred to as Great Basin Rattlesnakes.

Try looking in Bierber and Aida areas. I don't know if the RS population is higher or lower than other areas of CA, but who cares when you can have 40+ acres of wonderful irrigated HAY fields to harvest for your critters and ours.

I guess I'm not used rattlesnakes. I know they're here, but you don't hear about them too much in SLO County. Maybe Los Osos. Not exactly cheap, but it's reasonable for coastal property in this area. Areas of town allow horses. Montana De Oro has a horse camp. It's a beautiful area to ride.

It's pretty reasonably priced down there, at least compared to the rest of California. Just a thought!
Been there-looks like some real low lifes out there but that is what you should expect for "cheap land". That area is high desert. It gets very hot in the summer and can get cold at nights in winter for CA.

Apple Valey is where i believe Roy Rogers made his Ranch though.

No, Victorville and Apple Valley are in the Western Mojave Desert, not the mountains.

Spend a summer there sometime. Believe me, it feels like desert.
