I was thinking, since the Ross store is getting old. And if business is not doing as good as I hear. If the Copelands acquired it apart of the Chinatown project, then if they added an upper story level. Making it 3 stories, and a couple redesigning of the building. You could get a 3 story 111,000sq. ft. Macy's with 37,000sq. ft. per level. And, of course Copelands would need to make the parking garage in their project a little bigger to accomodate Macy's parking needs.

Garden Street Terrace project:
-Village at Maymont (25,000 sq. ft. of local and retail upscale clothing retailers)
-condos
Chinatown project (321,000sq.ft):
-The Shoppes at Palm (60,000sq. ft. of local and retail upscale clothing retailers)
-condos
-office
-50 ft hotel
-parking garage
-Ross converted into Macy's?

This "the city" person is becoming tiresome.

Whatever developer he/she is, where ever this person is, they post continuously in various forums here, with listless visions of tedius retail mall development looking for cheerleaders. When none appear and sparse respondents reply with ennui, "the city" becomes belligerent.

Whoever you are "the city", all of America is bored with your used and worn ideas of *exciting* retail development. We care no more about Macy's than we did about Ross. Saks Fifth Ave. is nicer than Macy's. Nordstrom is ok too. None of your projects look any different than any other project from sea to shining sea in America. Changing anchor tenants does not cause us to jump for joy. As you've been told so many times before, most of us have enough shirts and towels and underwear to last a long time. We just don't care about your uninspired projects. Just.don't.care.

Now take your parking garages and department stores and upscale office space and please go away.

"the city" is not a developer--he's a high school kid who is preparing to go into city planning and is totally obsessed with the subject.

As someone who is planning to move to the central coast in a year or so, I find a lot of the information he posts very interesting. He actually attends the local gov't meetings and comes back with his interpretation of what is going on. Sure he's a little gung-ho on the malls--but he's young.

As always, the best way to kill a thread is not to respond to it.

Mine too. These types of posts pollute the information that I am researching for a possible move. And it's distracting.
