Stallion Springs is about 20 minutes from Tehachapi and the 58. I can get to Bakersfield from Tehachapi in 40 minutes. I don't know of any shortcuts, but Stallion Springs is a beautiful area. We would have moved there if it weren't for the commute time.

So do you think it takes at least an hour to get from Stallion Springs to Bakersfield?

I just happened to run across this post while searching for something else on google.
I've lived in Stallion Springs for seven years, and drive to Bakersfield one or two times a week. Yes, it's just about an hour drive down. You can shave about five minutes off of your commute if you go from Stallion Springs up by Alpine Forest to get to Tehachapi, but the road is windy, and not for anyone who gets carsick easily.
It is a beautiful place to live though. Definitely worth the hour drive in my opinion.
