My daughter is moving to Stockton
The good news...my 21-year old daughter just landed her dream job.
The bad news...she's relocating 2,300 miles away to Stockton.
I've read a lot of bad things about Stockton; however I also read there are some good things about it. She'll be starting out at about $44K a year, so she should be able to find a decent apartment in a good area of town.
My questions...
1) What's the best areas for housing? She'll be working at the airport. I'm thinking maybe near your university...or possibly Lodi, a few miles away.
2) How's the nightlife for a young, single woman? Again, I'm thinking near your university.
3) Are there any country music radio stations within range? I checked Wikipedia, and it does not seem as if you have any. My daugher loves country, and has all her car radio presets to the country stations. (We have at least five country stations in the Cincinnati area.)
4) Anything else we should know?
TIA.

Yeah, the station is 103.3. 105.1 or 101.9 are Sacramento stations, but may come in there. My dad grew up in Stockton and liked it, but it has really gone downhill since then. I don't really know any specific neighborhoods, but I have just heard that, in general, it isn't a very safe place.

I don't know much about Stockton, but I was looking at the 95129 area a couple years back when the foreclosures were just beginning to rain down. It seemed like a nice, quiet little area and there were some nicely decked out condos on W Benjamin Holt Dr. I was looking in that area because I have a policy, which has served me well for years, to check out automobile insurance rates for all the ZIP codes wherever I moved and pick out the lowest I could afford (because it's an indicator of lower property crime).
95202 $843
95203 $873
95204 $873
95205 $1,074
95206 $869
95207 $890
95209 $866
95210 $1,123
95211 $822
95212 $949
95215 $930
95219 $818

i have been living in stockton for some years now and im a single lady right now im actually relocating to the bay area. some areas arent so bad just like any other city but as for the nightlife..there is none i have to go out of town to modesto manteca or sac to find some good places and stockton really isnt my choice to live especially for a younger lady who has no idea of any areas so good luck and if she can transfer i would do that...hope that helps a little

I guess you all aren't too optimstic.
Anyway...she'll probably be in a training mode for about 2 or 3 years, then hopefully she can transfer closer to home.
She'll be working at the airport. How far is the airport from 1) Manteca or 2) Lodi?
